Some historic maps of south of downtown Tucson

Los Tucsonenses is a book written by Dr. Tom Sheridan with colleagues from the Mexican Heritage Project including Joseph R. Noriega (1958 – 1985). The forward was written by Patricia Preciado Martin. Also the staff of the Arizona Historical Society in Tucson Arizona.

“The Sonorans came as people who could live in a desert, unlike the Anglos. They had already dealt with living and farming in the Gran Chichimera north of Mexico City. They used river irrigation techniques from Roman Spain, and desert cattle called ‘criollos'” (Sheridan 1992, 12).
